Hilda Baci Sets Guinness World Record for Largest Serving of Jollof Rice

Hilda Baci, Nigeria's culinary phenomenon, has once again gained worldwide recognition. She is now officially recognized by the Guinness World Records as the holder of the record for the largest dish of Nigerian-style jollof rice, a noteworthy accomplishment that solidifies her standing as one of Africa's most renowned cooks.

On September 12, Hilda prepared an enormous 8,780 kilos (19,356 lb 9 oz) of jollof rice in collaboration with the food company Gino. Thousands of people attended the feat, which was held on Victoria Island in Lagos and evolved into the World Jollof Festival.

The occasion evolved into a celebration of cuisine, culture, and community rather than just an attempt to set a record. Fans, foodies, politicians, and celebrities were among the attendees. The Ogun State Governor's wife, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, actress Funke Akindele, musician and actor Falz, actress Tomike Adeoye, and digital creator Enioluwa Adeoluwa were among the notable guests.

With live entertainment, countless photo opportunities, and a lavish showcase of Nigeria's culinary prowess, the mood was electrifying. Social media made it possible for people who were far from Lagos to experience the thrill.

It takes accuracy to set a Guinness World Record. To adhere to stringent regulations, Hilda and her group measured each ingredient. Among the ingredients in their enormous recipe were:

Two hundred bags of rice

220 kg of cubes of seasoning

600 kg of Hilda's special blend of peppers

Goat meat weighing 164 kilograms

An astounding 16,600 plates of jollof rice were produced during the nine-hour cooking marathon and served to the attendees.

Only three years have passed since Hilda's 2023 cookathon, which made headlines and set the record for the longest cooking marathon (93 hours and 11 minutes). She has demonstrated her dedication to breaking culinary limits and introducing the world to Nigerian food with this most recent achievement.

The Significance of It

Jollof rice, renowned for its flavor and capacity to unite people, is more than just a meal; it is a cultural icon throughout West Africa. Hilda's accomplishment demonstrates not only the popularity of Nigerian cuisine around the world but also the inventiveness, tenacity, and solidarity it embodies.

Her world record serves as a reminder that food can create bonds, evoke pride, and tell tales that cut beyond national boundaries.

By transforming a popular meal into a worldwide sensation, Hilda Baci has once again brought Nigeria's diverse culinary culture to the attention of the globe. She continues to encourage a new generation of chefs and food enthusiasts to pursue their dreams by leaving a legacy of record-breaking achievements.
